Youth participation - youth parliament
Children, adolescents and young adults have a right to this participation and co-determination. In the city of Jena, participation is made possible in a variety of ways:
- Development of the child and youth development plan
- Planning of playgrounds
- Pupil participation in schools
- Social area conferences and participation workshops
In the youth parliament of the city of Jena, pupils represent their specific interests to the city council, the committees and the public. The youth parliament is elected by the pupils of Jena's schools, works autonomously and is independent of political parties.
The rights of the youth parliament are in particular
- a right to be heard in the city council and its committees on issues relevant to young people,
- the right to be informed by the city council and the city administration about issues relevant to young people,
- the right to submit statements and expert opinions to be discussed in the relevant committees and
- the right of the Chairperson of the Youth Parliament to report to the City Council once a year on the work of the Youth Parliament.
Youth participation projects and technical support for the youth parliament are provided by the youth work/youth social work team.
