Welcome Visit to the Parents of Newborns
A baby changes your life—a family is formed or grows.
The City of Jena personally welcomes all newborns and their families. That’s what the city’s first-visit service is for. You’ll receive a letter from the mayor of Jena congratulating you on the birth of your child and suggesting a date for a home visit.
In a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, a staff member will inform you about services available in Jena that can support you in your daily family life. If you need advice or guidance, we’ll be happy to point you toward the right resources and answer your questions.
During the visit, you’ll receive helpful informational materials, the City of Jena’s Parenting Guide, information on breastfeeding and diaper-changing locations and financial assistance, as well as small welcome gifts for your baby and you.
We provide advice on topics such as:
- Points of contact for raising children in Jena
- Services offered by family centers, community centers, counseling centers, and classes
- Childcare options and the allocation of daycare spots or child care providers
- Practical help for everyday life
- Support services for specific life situations
We look forward to congratulating you and warmly welcoming your baby as a new resident of Jena.
