Welcome visit to parents of newborns

A baby changes life - a family is born or grows.

The city of Jena welcomes all newborns and their families personally. This is what the city's first visit service is for.

You will receive a letter from the Mayor of Jena congratulating you on the birth of your child and suggesting a date for a home visit.

In a familiar atmosphere, a member of staff will inform you about services in Jena that can support you in everyday family life. If you need advice or guidance, we will be happy to point you in the right direction and answer your questions.

During your visit, you will receive helpful information material, the city of Jena's parents' guide, information on breastfeeding and changing facilities and financial benefits, as well as small welcome gifts for you and your baby.

We provide advice on topics such as:

  • Contact persons for life with a child in Jena
  • Offers from family centers, meeting places, advice centers and courses
  • Childcare options and allocation of daycare places and childminders
  • Practical everyday help
  • Support services in special life situations

We look forward to congratulating you and welcoming your baby as a new Jena citizen.
